Tap

Tap dance is characterized by the type of shoes dancers wear when performing this style, the shoes have a metal "tap" on both the heel and the toe. The dancers use the sounds of their tap shoes by striking the floor as a form of percussion. There are several influences that have changed the face of Tap, but it primarily came from traditional  Afro-Caribbean rhythms and moves. Over the years, Jazz and Post-Modernism as well as Broadway have blended throughout the technique to create what we know as Tap today. This class highly focuses on the complex rhythms and different choreographic dances you can make with the sounds of the tap shoes in mind.
